Day 17 - Why you shouldn't throw away your Avocado Seeds #22DayChallenge
Updated: Aug 3, 2020
I love it when exciting new discoveries come knocking on my door. I was talking to one of my clients from Turkey this afternoon who had been experiencing sharp bursts of pain and was diagnosed with gallstones
I asked him about his diet and if he was on any supplements since his diagnosis and he was telling me that after going down the conventional route without success he was advised to take some Avocado Seed Tea. This piqued my interest as I love avocados. I started doing some research to see if I could find out more and here's what I found...

There are 3 ways to prepare it...
OPTION 1 (Quick Method)
Boil the seed in hot water in a saucepan for 5 minutes
This makes the seed soft and you can remove the outer skin which reveals a white fleshy part
Once the brown skin is removed cut it up into pieces
Simmer for another 5 minutes and then pour your tea
OPTION 2 (Slow method)
Thoroughly wash the seeds with water and let them dry out in direct sunlight for 3 days.
You can place them on a plate on your windowsill in an area that gets lots of sunlight
You will know the seeds are dried as the skin starts to flake and peels off easily
Once the skin is removed cut it up into pieces
Use a small blender or coffee grinder to grind into a rusty fine powder
Then add it to a mason jar to store
Once dried you can add 1 tsp to a cup of hot water and stir and let it cool
Then pour and drink (Use a tea strainer if you have one)
You can also add 1 tsp to salads or smoothies
OPTION 3
Alternatively, you can dry the seeds out in an oven at 210 F or 100 C for 2 hrs
They are also full of magnesium and soluble fibre and great for cleaning out the whole digestive system which is what I'm most excited about, but I what I love most is that as I go on this 22 Day Journey things come along at the right time that are perfect for helping me to hit my 3 goals.
Like Apricot Kernals they also contain traces of cyanide. I had a look through lots of articles to see if this was dangerous in any way and what I found out was that 1200 Edible plants contain the same active compound, it is also known as B17 and the level of cyanide is minimal and once consumed the body converts it into hydrogen.
In April 2015, Scientists from Canada and Italy teamed up to find out what was the most effective treatment for Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). AML originates in bone marrow and, once developed, spreads to the bloodstream in the form of Leukemia. Avocado seeds came out as the most effective treatment. A compound known as avocatin B was found to not only destroy AML cancer cells but also to have zero negative side effects on healthy blood cells, something which current cancer treatments cannot include.
In conclusion, it also contains 70% of the antioxidants found in avocados, lots of people swear by it and drink it regularly and scientists are calling it a gold mine of potential because it is so rich in vitamins and minerals.
I look forward to trying this out and hope you do too
